Touristy stuff from our first London visit- the Globe
At last I hear you cry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is our August visit to London to use up Nicola's Globe tickets.
It was a beautiful sunny day so we decided to walk everywhere and just see what we came across. Our first pic needs no introduction
isn't it majestic!

no tourist picture left untaken!

A nice picture of Horse Guards Parade except for
the dotty old woman in the front

By now we were hungry so we had a meal
followed by a banana split for 2. While we were
waiting for it to arrive we decided to take a
picture of it for the blog but when it came we
tucked into it with such indecent haste all we have
left to show is the empty bowl!!

Walking across the millennium Bridge. Not
so much fun now it doesn't wobble.

There was a huge debate about this boat - BM
thought it was so ugly, like a floating greenhouse
but I was so taken with it I was prepared to go on
it but we ran out of time.

The view of Southwark Bridge from outside The Globe.

Turn round and there it is. The huge building
with the chimney is Tate Modern and to the
left is a tiny white building - The Globe!
(I wonder what was round it in Shakespeare's day?)

It looks more impressive when you get closer
to it.

Unfortunately it was a bit dark in the foyer
and my glasses always catch the flash and
make me look like an owl!

We weren't allowed to take photos
during the performance but this is the
scene before it started

On the way back to the station we came across
this. Can't remember which gallery it was but
but I can't help feeling that if they paid a lot
for this they were robbed!
If you look closely it's a load of cheap timber
with paint thrown at it!

I thought this was better. Made by Damien Hurst
(the formaldehyde sheep man),
it was about 30 feet high, made of metal and
showed a pregnant woman but.....

If you went round to the other side,
there was a very graphic view of her
insides!

Notice the nice little water jets around the base,
every so often the shot up in the air and if you
were taking a photo near them you can get very wet!
(BM took the photos!!!!!!)
Well was it all worthwhile waiting for? The next
installment of touristy London - The Savoy
is being processed!!!!!

The gallery was the Royal Academy of Arts on Piccadilly, wasn't it?

We had just been to Jermyn Street to pick up your birthday present and were walking back past Fortnum & Mason. It was almost opposite. Was it the Royal Academy?
