The sleep of the innocent
On Friday night (4.00am) the bungalow opposite caught fire and 2 fire engines were outside our house for an hour and a half with blue lights flashing, engines roaring, hose reels pouring out gallons of water, firemen shouting. Guess who slept through it all................................

nothing obvious from the outside but apparently the inside is a mess. It was Mrs Histead who is 84 and she managed to climb out of the window and raise the alarm ( I hope she didn't try us first and couldn't wake us!) She covers her knees in the evening with an electric blanket and puts it over the armchair when she goes to bed but she forgot on Friday to switch it off.The chair caught fire which in turn set alight the wooden floor which spread throughout the bungalow. There was a lot of smoke and water damage and we've got about 10 vans in the road doing various repairs and restoration work. Can't send any pictures as we didn't see any of it!
ps sorry we missed you on Monday. It's always worth trying about 4 - 5pm your time as we nearly always there then.(not always coherant though)
