The power of the waves

Last night we had a really high autumn tide plus a north east wind which added almost another 2 meters to the height of the tide. The waves crashed on to the prom in spectacular fashion.

And where the defenses couldn't hold huge areas were flooded. This is the bridge between Walberswick and Southwold that we have crossed lots of times, but not today.

This is the main arterial route through Suffolk (the A12). Unfortunately this is not far from Minsmere which was also flooded causing devastation to the wildlife.

The aftermath at Felixstowe. The prom is knee deep in shingle and the waves have managed to move these huge lumps of concrete.

In Yarmouth they have had an exhibition of sand sculptures and although they weather has damaged them a remarkable amount remains intact. Impressive aren't they.

Its behind you!

That is some very impressive flooding. You are proper little roving reporters now!
I can't believe those bits of concrete were moved by the sea - power of the waves hey.
